Accuride announces the addition of model 3832SC, another self-closing slide option designed with a lighter pull-force for use in less demanding applications such as medical or supply carts and industrial workstations.

Accuride Self Closing Slide

The self-closing action is achieved through a spring-loaded device that activates about 1-1/2 inches from the closed position. This integrated device is designed to close drawers completely and keep them closed, eliminating the hazard of half-open drawers, while also keeping drawer fronts neatly aligned.

Model 3832SC offers a 100-lb. load rating, full extension and comes in even lengths of 12 to 28 inches. This product is RoHS compliant.

More efficient Portable Linear and Gantry Milling Machine

November 16, 2011 by

Climax Portable Machine Tools (www.cpmt.com) has introduced a new portable milling machine with a split-rail system that enables configurations for both gantry milling and linear milling.

Designed with a rigid, modular bed, the device allows shorter bed sections to get combined fitting the necessary length of the work area, assuring rigidity and the option to extend the bed’s original length by two or three times.

First of its kind, the developer has indicated that service technicians and machinists working in the power generation, heavy construction, mining, and shipbuilding industries will be able to use the LM5200 and LM6200 models.

“This tool came out of conversations with our customers who told us they wanted a portable milling machine that minimizes the number of changeovers to complete a job, is versatile, rigid and that maximizes the mill’s footprint for each workspace,” said Geoff Gilmore, President of Climax Portable Machine Tools.

“Our engineering and design team realized that to meet customer demand, we needed to develop a milling machine that would completely re-define the concept of a portable milling machine.”

The linear/gantry mill combination sets the bar for “precision, functionality and features,” he added.

The developer has predicted that the two models would increase the number of machining projects doable needless to purchase or transport other mills. It also claimed that the two models allow precision milling, drilling and boring to be more efficiently done meeting tight tolerances in linear and gantry milling configurations alike.

Linear Motion Technology Selection Guide from Rexroth

Hoffman Estates, Ill. – Bosch Rexroth’s new Linear Motion Technology selection guide offers a comprehensive overview of the benefits and applications of Rexroth’s linear motion products for machine designers. The guide is also a resource to help engineers determine which linear motion products meet their application requirements, as well as technical insights into issues like cost savings through standardization and energy efficiency. Bosch

The guide is available as a free download at www.boschrexroth-us.com/linearmotion. The 88-page guide provides information about the applications, performance capabilities and energy efficiency of linear motion technology.

It also contains an overview of the structural design, operating principles and characteristics of Bosch Rexroth’s linear motion products, including precision modules, profiled rail, ball screw drives, miniature components, electromechanical actuators and completely preconfigured linear motion systems with matching motors and controls.

ILG said manufacturers sourcing for power transmission and motion control solutions are usually in need of custom made products and OEM.

Steven Morgan, spokesperson for the company, said the bearing manufacturers found on the site are primarily from the UK, US, Canada, Australia and China serving more than 54 countries across the globe with emphasis on the West. Mr. Morgan added that more than 30 thrust bearings manufacturers have been added to the directory, which also serves as power transmission equipment and motion controls purchasing guide for engineering, plant maintenance, hydraulic, conveying and other markets, as well as heavy equipment, automotive and agriculture mechanics.

“There are many industries and applications where a more suitable type of bearing can help a company improve reliability, service intervals, accuracy, efficiency, speed of operation as well as the overall operating and purchasing value of machinery and equipment,” said Morgan. “Industrial Leaders created its new bearings directory to help companies compare manufacturers offering different types of plastic and metal bearing products such as ball, roller, sleeve, rifle, journal, angular contact and other kinds of bearings offered in a wide range of standard and customized dimensions and materials.”

Haydon Kerk Introduces RGS04 Motorized Linear Rail System

June 29, 2010 by
Filed under Industry News, Linear Guides

The company announces the dual carriage RGS04 motorized linear rail system. The system combines the company’s patented motion technologies in a single integrated system. The RGS brand linear rail will come preassembled with the IDEA programmable actuator that simplifies product integration for the OEM.

The rails have standard wear-compensating, anti-backlash driven carriages for accurate positioning. All moving surfaces have engineered polymers that run on Kerkote TFE coating, giving a stable platform for several linear motion applications.

The IDEA programmable system combines a fully programmable, integrated stepper motor drive with Haydon hybrid linear actuator. The programmable drive has an easy-to-use patent pending graphic user interface to directly program motion profiles into the system. It also contains a debug utility for easy troubleshooting, allowing line-by-line RGS Linear Rail 300x214execution of a motion program.

By combining technologies into one preassembled unit, the company is able to improve system integration for the end user or equipment OEM. The overall cost is lowered by giving a complete solution as it simplifies product development with fewer components required and eliminates the need for rotary-to-linear conversion.

Applications include laboratory instrumentation, life science equipment, semiconductor processing equipment and other applications requiring precision linear motion.
