The 34R and 42R frame motors are now available with dual voltage windings and inverter duty ratings. When operated with an AC speed control (inverter), these motors have a speed range from 120-3,650 rpm; maximum torque of up to 281 oz-in. (2 Nm) and are rated from 1/4 to 3/8 HP. They can be matched with Bodine’s three most popular gearheads, the type E, F and 5N. The type E and F are both parallel shaft designs, with gear ratios from 5:1 to 300:1; their torque is rated from 25 to 341 lb-in. (up to 39 Nm), and power is rated up to 3/8 HP (280 W). The type 5N right-angle gearhead has gear ratios from 5:1 to 75:1. It provides a torque range between 54 and 116 lb-in. (up to 13 Nm) and up to 3/8 HP (280 W) power. Larger type 48R dual voltage motors and gearmotors are already available up to 3/4 HP (560 W).

All Bodine Pacesetter inverter duty AC motors and gearmotors feature Bodine’s Quintsulation™ 5-stage insulation system, which meets NEMA MG 1-1993, Section IV, Part 31. This insulation protects the motor from potential spikes or corona damage caused by the inverter. Pacesetter gearmotors are UL or CSA recognized for construction, cURus or CSA/UR marked, and in compliance with the Low Voltage Directive “CE”, and RoHS compliant.

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Igus® Inc. unveiled its latest Energy Chain System®: micro Speed-E-Chain for storage and retrieval systems. New micro Speed-E-Chain is a space-saving, compact system for rack control devices that operates safely and silently at high speeds. It complements the company’s larger protective guide-trough offering, formerly known as LBT Flizz and now called Speed-E-Chain.

Micro Speed-E-Chain is an ideal alternative to busways, busbars, festoons and other types of electrification supplies. It offers all the benefits of a traditional Energy Chain cable carrier, including cable protection, extension of service life and elimination of maintenance and downtime. Micro Speed-E-Chain is designed for storage and retrieval systems, extendable conveyors, material handling applications and tool changers.

Micro Speed-E-Chain is comprised of a uniquely designed Energy Chain installed in an aluminum guide trough, with a rolling attachment on the underside through which the cables are fed down to the machine. The top of the trough is closed to protect against dirt, dust and contaminants.

QC Industries’ Automation Series Conveyors

Cincinnati, OH – QC Industries introduced their new Automation Series AS40 and AS65 low profile belt conveyors at WestPack in Anaheim, California. Automation Series conveyors offer high speeds with a single-piece extruded aluminum frame and feature easy belt changes, unique rotatable drives and a movable center drive designed with maximum versatility in mind.

qc-conveyor.jpg

The unique Pivot™ rotatable drive technology on AS40 end drive conveyors allows the drive to be quickly rotated in the field to almost any position to meet changing application requirements and avoid conflicts with other machinery. AS65 center drive conveyors feature a below-belt drive that can be positioned at any point along the length of the conveyor, allowing a better fit with integrated machinery.

A simple, push-button tension release mechanism alleviates tension on the belt for fast, easy belt changes and under belt cleaning. A gentle push reseats the tension release mechanism with proper tension and tracking retained. The conveyors use sealed, deep-groove ball bearings.

The rigid, single-piece aluminum frame includes tee slots for rapid stand and accessory mounting. Conveyors 18” wide and wider feature a strengthened multi-piece aluminum and steel frame. A wide variety of sides, guides, stands and accessories are available. Drive packages include DC and AC motors in both standard- and heavy-duty models with a variety of mounting options. Automation Series conveyors are extremely efficient, requiring very little torque beyond the initial load at startup.

A crowned pulley ensures proper belt tracking. V-Guide belts are available for applications that require it — such as reversing and side discharging — without changing any conveyor components. More than 50 belt styles are available, ranging from multi-purpose and accumulation belts to anti-static and color contrasting specialty belts.

Automation Series conveyors are designed to handle high speeds up to 400 feet per minute. They handle loads up to 120 lbs. Widths are available in increments from 2” to 24” and lengths from 18” to 13’ for single-piece frames and 14’ to 25’ for multi-piece frames. They feature a low 1.95″ profile. Their modular design allows the conveyor to be easily extended or shortened as application requirements change. As with all QC Industries conveyors, Automation Series conveyors feature a Five Year Warranty.

Dorner’s new AquaGard stainless steel conveyor can sustain speeds up to an industry-leading 260 feet-per-minute. It delivers best-in-class transfers and easy automation for baked goods, snack foods and confectionaries. AquaGard is an ideal solution for some applications in the fruit, vegetable, non-protein ready-to-eat, pharmaceutical, medical, and personal care industries.

dorner-aquagard.jpg

Pre-engineering and the use of standard components eliminate the cost, long lead times and risk of custom conveyors. Its speed is coupled with fast and versatile transfers—whether powered or rollers—while only adding minimally to the overall length. And one-inch nosebar tails can be integrated for small part transfers.

A revolutionary bracket design makes it easy to add a variety of controls in minutes. These include photo eyes, low voltage wires, air tubing, and several guiding options. And an available accessory bar can be used to add multiple components to one or both sides of the conveyor frame.

The AquaGard is TIG welded for durability and all of the materials used in the conveyor are FDA approved and meet or exceed BISSC standards.

Plastic Modular Belt Conveyors

January 29, 2009 by Miles Budimir

Line of Modular Plastic Belt (MPB) Conveyors combine increased durability and reduced maintenance in a quiet, compact package.  The conveyors are available with 0.5- or 1-in. pitch belting in widths from 2 to 24 in. and lengths to 29 ft, and they are ideal for a range of industrial, packaging, labeling, automation and processing systems.

jan-pw-18.jpg

Belt and sprocket life are increased through a 200-degree positive-contact drive sprocket belt engagement mechanism that eliminates the return link contraction. Maintenance costs are lowered through reduced component wear, self-aligning sealed-for-life bearings, and a compact quick-change direct drive.  A tip-up tail section permits interior access without belt separation.  Center tracking eliminates belt lateral end-drift and potential belt run-off, as well as virtually eliminating belt and guide edge-wear.

The quiet, compact drive occupies approximately one-half the space of conventional systems, and the reduced height beyond the drive end allows the conveyors to fit into shallow height applications. The drive is devoid of belts, chain, sprockets, couplings and their related maintenance, and it can be totally replaced and ready to run in under five minutes.  Also, the drive does not require disengagement when removing, or installing the belt.

Conveyors are available with an entry nose bar for small part transfer and all units carry a two-year,  unlimited hour warranty.
