Haydon™ 21000 series, Size 8, linear actuators from Haydonkerk Motion Solutions are the newest and smallest addition to the company’s extensive hybrid motor line.

These linear actuators occupy a minimal 21mm (0.8”) square space and include numerous patented innovations that provide high performance and endurance in a very small package. The Haydon 21000 series linear actuators are available in three designs; captive, non-captive and external linear versions. Available in a wide variety of resolutions ranging from 0.0015mm to 0.04mm per step, they can deliver thrust of up to 4.5 Kg without compromising long life or accuracy. These models can also be micro stepped for even finer resolution. The use of proprietary manufacturing processes which incorporate engineering thermoplastics in the rotor drive nut and a stainless steel acme lead screw allows the motor to be highly efficient and durable.

Typical applications include medical equipment, semiconductor handling, valve control, X-Y tables, hand-held instruments, and many more. In addition to standard configurations, HaydonKerk Motion Solutions can custom design actuators to meet specific application requirements.

HaydonKerk Motion Solutions™ offers the Kerk RGS® linear slide assembly combined with the Haydon™ MotoDrive™ PDE Actuator, an integrated linear slide, stepper motor, and electronic drive assembly combined together in a single unit.

The Kerk RGS linear slide features a standard wear-compensating, anti-backlash driven carriage to ensure repeatable and accurate positioning. All moving surfaces include Kerkite® polymers running on either Kerkote® or Black Ice™ TFE coatings, providing a strong, stable platform for a variety of linear motion applications.

The Haydon MotoDrive is an integrated linear actuator and electronic drive designed to operate with optically isolated inputs of pulse, direction and enable signals. The MotoDrive is programmable for micro-stepping ranging from full step mode to 64 micro steps per full step. Step resolution ranges from 200 full steps per revolution to 12,800 steps per revolution when micro-stepping. With a supply voltage of 12 to 42 Vdc, the MotoDrive Actuator functions with a factory-programmable run current of up to 2.6 A (rms) per phase. The drive direction is enabled with logic level voltage, and is activated using +5 Vdc. When operated at ground potential, the drive executes a retract move of the actuator.

Combining components into a complete optimized assembly helps reduce risk, increase safety, and improve integration for the OEM or end user resulting in a lower overall system cost.

For vertical applications, Kerk lead screws can be designed to self-lock and prevent back driving, unlike traditional ball screws. Utilizing a sliding motion between the nut and the screw to convert rotary input to linear output motion, the Kerk non-ball lead screws offer accuracy comparable to ground ball screws. Kerk lead screws are manufactured with a choice of proprietary coatings, depending on the application requirements. Kerkote® and Black Ice™ dry lubrication coatings eliminate the need for external lubrication and maintenance. HaydonKerk Motion Solutions can also add value to an application by designing and molding customized application-specific nut features. As with all Kerk brand anti-backlash and freewheeling nuts, customized nuts can be molded using Kerkite® high performance polymers or various customer-specified specialty materials.

Manufactured from 303 stainless steel and produced with HaydonKerk Motion Solutions’ exclusive precision rolling process, Kerk lead screws are available in standard diameters from 1/8” (3.2mm) to 15/16” (23mm), with standard leads from .02” to 3” (.5mm to 76mm).
