12 Volt DC linear actuator with 67 percent more output force

★ By Danielle Collins Leave a Comment

New 12V DC linear actuator widely applied in 4×4 vehicle and sport truck slide steps now available from stock in Minnesota USA.

DC linear actuator

Midwest Motion Products of Howard Lake, Minnesota, is pleased to announce the release of a new DC linear actuator, the model MMP LA3-12V-5-A-SP-100. The actuator accepts any 12V DC input, including automotive battery power, and features a compact, lightweight design, measuring just 8.5 in. long (fully retracted) by 1.65 in. wide and 3.25 in. tall. Mounting is accomplished with 0.25 in. diameter thru holes on the rear end of the actuator and near the end of the extending cylinder.

This rugged and reliable linear actuator has been designed with a steel drive pinion, instead of the usual plastic pinion, thereby allowing for 67 percent greater output force capacity than our standard actuators, without sacrificing stroke speed.

Design Features

  • IP65 ingress protection
  • Extra high output force capacity
  • Zinc alloy housing
  • Aluminum outer tube
  • Permanently lubricated
  • Acme screw (anti-backdriving)
  • Enhanced corrosion resistance
  • Non-rotating aluminum inner tube
  • Built-in limited switches, both ends of travel

Design Specifications

  • Stroke length = 100 mm
  • Output force = 45 lb
  • Current at full load = 2 Ampere
  • Gear ratio = 5:1
  • F.L. stroke speed = 2 in. per second
  • Static load = 517 lb
  • Operating temp range = -15° F to 150° F

The company also offers a variety of standard ancillary equipment including brushed and brushless DC motors and gearmotors, motor speed controls, DC servomotors and gear-motors, 12V, 24V and 48V DC power supplies, and a wide variety of other DC linear actuators, from 50 mm to 300 mm strokes lengths, and with potentiometer feedback options. Typical applications include automotive, medical, mobility/accessibility products, robotics  and automation including unmanned guided vehicles, semiconductor processing equipment, actuators, packaging and labeling machines, metalworking machines, and many other applications requiring precise and robust motion control.
