ABB (www.abb.com) has proudly introduced the EDP300 series digital positioner, which is ideal for regulating air-driven rotary and linear actuators, including control valves.
The EDP300 design features advanced algorithm that accurately position the valve actuator with remarkable speed and precision.
It also comes with ABB’s best-in-class Human Machine Interface (HMI) with menu-driven programming as well as control selection of options. This helps the digital positioner to effectively save cost and time.
The diagnostics of EDP300 include optional pressure sensors that allow real-time monitoring of actuator conditions, improve process reliability as well as determine valve/actuator performance.
In addition, the unit features a PST (Partial Stroke Test) function for valve integrity’s in-process verification.
The integrated valve signature function of the EDP300 enables it to test and verify the baseline performance of the actuator and positioner assembly, without the need for added hardware.
Its pneumatic output control stage eliminates the need for volume boosters, as it offers up to 23 scfm air capability for fast valve travel. Its supply pressure of up to 145 psi offers unrivalled valve seating load.
The EDP300 digital positioner is specifically designed with a high level of mounting flexibility. Its application for rotary or linear actuator features similar footprint as the ABB TZIDC positioner.
Meanwhile, the optional stainless steel of the EDP300 enables it to operate even in corrosive environments commonly found in offshore, pulp and paper and chemical applications.
