Actuonix launches the L8 series micro linear actuator

★ By Rachael Pasini Leave a Comment

Actuonix Motion Devices has introduced the L8 series micro linear actuator, designed to deliver linear motion solutions in space-constrained applications without compromising performance specifications. The new actuator represents a ground-up design approach focused on minimizing form factor while maintaining force output.

The L8 series micro linear actuator is ultra-compact and delivers up to 75 N of force. Image: Actuonix

The L8 series has five stroke length options: 10 mm, 25 mm, 50 mm, 75 mm, and 100 mm, with maximum force ratings up to 75 N (16.8 lb). The actuator’s slim profile addresses integration challenges commonly encountered in applications requiring multiple actuators within limited space envelopes. The design targets applications where precise dimensional requirements prevent the use of larger actuators, allowing engineers to specify actuators based on exact performance requirements.

Its S-Series configuration incorporates integrated end-limit switches with dc control. To operate, simply apply power to extend and reverse polarity to retract. The L8 is compatible with DPDT switches, relay systems, and brushed dc motor controllers. Future variants will expand control options. The planned R-Series will feature RC-style positioning control, while the P-Series will provide compatibility with external controllers. The P-Series is designed to interface with Actuonix’s Linear Actuator Control Board (LAC), enabling USB control, analog positioning, and programmable speed and stroke limit functions.

The actuator’s reduced footprint addresses design challenges in applications requiring multiple linear actuators in confined spaces. The dimensional characteristics make it suitable for complex assemblies where space optimization is critical to overall system design. Potential applications included automated equipment, robotics, and precision positioning systems, where traditional linear actuators exceed available space allocations while still requiring reliable force output and positioning control.
