Bimba’s new multi-axis HSXZ and HSXY electric belt-driven actuators offer 2-axis linear motion control using a unique single belt transport system. The single belt system serpentines around both the X and Z (or Y) axis in such a fashion that it eliminates the need for a motor in the Z-axis (or Y) while using two coordinated motors in the X-axis. The advantage and benefits of this electric belt-driven configuration include coordinated control for complex motion move profiles including circles, ellipses, sine wave and other complex motions. More after the jump.
In addition, the HSXZ/Y offers high thrust capability with high speed performance via a robust belt construction. Using and sharing many of the components found in Bimba’s flagship B80/B110 actuator family, the HSXZ/Y offers long durability and performance all in one design. No motor in the Z-axis leads to reduced weight in the Z-axis …
… which in turn leads to a smaller overall Z-axis load and reduced X-axis motor size and cost savings — as the thrust and torque of both X-axis motors converge to provide twice the thrust of a single motor all as a result of this first-to-market design.
No motor in the Z-axis eliminates the need for cable tracks and expensive flexible cable in the Z-axis leading to additional cost savings.
The many features and benefits found in the standard HSXZ/Y offer you the added convenience of a streamlined multi-axis solution that looks great and performs even better. Consider a Bimba HSXZ/Y for your next multi-axis application.
