Festo introduced the ELGA linear drive — a cost-effective electric toothed belt axis that comes with high feed forces as well as flexible motor attachments.
It features an integrated plain-bearing guided belt drive that is easy to handle and fit, aside from being ideally suited for positioning lighter loads quickly, allowing machine builders to save costs and installation time.
Delivered ready-to-install, the ELGA linear drive is suitable for feeding, handling and conveying applications in the food, electronics and packaging industries.
A magnetically attached stainless steel cover protects the belt drive against the ingress of dust, while the magnets on the cover of the drive allow it to be mounted upside down. The reliable plain-bearing guide is manufactured from a polymer, which provides optimum sliding performance. It also requires minimal maintenance as it eliminates the need for lubrication, making it ideal for environments where grease could pose a problem.
Offering excellent rigidity, the ELGA linear drive features stainless steel pinions to minimize wear from the belt and deliver a service life of up to 5,000 km. It offers high force feeds of up to 1300N at accelerations of up to 50 m/s2 and speeds of up to 5 m/s. Available in three different profile widths, the ELGA linear drive features a flexible motor connection that allows the motor to be mounted on any of the four corners.
