End of Arm Tooling for Automotive Applications
Traditional 6-axis, articulated robot arms are common in the automotive industry, allowing large parts such as doors to be manipulated for assembly. But the accurate positioning required for final placement is typically handled by the robot’s end-of-arm tooling, and this is where hexapods excel. The combination of a hexapod attached to the end of a 6-axis robot provides high speed, high load capacity gross positioning with high-precision, flexible final positioning.
