Low-cost linear actuators feature zero cogging, high throughput

October 19, 2021 By Miles Budimir Leave a Comment

Moticont has added their highest force linear actuator to their DDLM Linear Actuator Series. The DDLM-038-051-01 Linear Actuator is a low-cost, non-commutated linear actuator that easily integrates into new and existing applications, and is the ideal choice when upgrading from a pneumatic system. Compact, clean, and quiet, this fully enclosed linear actuator, also referred to as an electric cylinder, is 1.500 in. (38.1 mm) in diameter with a housing length of 2.00 in. (50.4 mm) long. Developing 3.1 lb (14.0 N) of continuous force and 9.9 lb (44.1 N) of peak force at 10% duty cycle, it has a stroke of 0.375 in. (9.5 mm).  Zero cogging and direct coupling of the actuator to the load results in zero backlash and allows for smooth, high acceleration/deceleration, and high speed positioning.

The 0.250 in. (6.4 mm) diameter shaft has an internal thread on each end, a total length of 3.875 in (98.4 mm), and extends 1.375 in. (34.9 mm) past the mounting ends of the actuator. The shaft extends thru the 9/16-18 UNF x 0.250 (6.4 mm) long threaded stud at each end of the housing which can be used for mounting the DDLM-038-051-01 Linear Actuator. Long life plain linear bearings support the internal shaft at both end of the actuator and can tolerate a side load up to 5.4 lb (24.0 N). Internal return springs are available as an option.

Highly controllable force, stroke length and speed, low noise, and maintenance free, the DDLM-038-051-01 can be used with a position sensor and controller for the high repeatability, accuracy, and high throughput of a closed-loop servo system.
