New Thomson MS46 Positioning Slides

★ By Editor Leave a Comment

WOOD DALE, IL – Thomson introduces MS46 Series Positioning Slides – the most cost-effective, versatile and modular line of premium positioning slides available today.  Unlike competitive products that are limited by fixed slide lengths, MS46 positioning slides are available in virtually any desired length, allowing users to design their machine to meet the application needs, rather than having to compromise on size or performance by designing the machine around its components.

Thomson MS46 positioning slides are constructed of lightweight yet extremely durable aluminum.  This makes them ideal as the carried axis in a multi-axis assembly because they minimize the total moving system mass to allow the application of smaller, less expensive motors.

Lightweight construction also helps minimize the total mass of the equipment into which it is assembled.   They offer strokes to 1634mm (64 in.) with a load capacity to 330N (74 lbf), and are well suited for handling light to medium loads in factory automation, life science, packaging, and semiconductor applications.

Thomson MS46 positioning slides are available in pre-loaded ballscrew, lead screw and belt-drive methods of linear actuation.  Ballscrew versions are available with leads of 5mm and 10mm, and are engineered for long life in high duty cycle applications.  Lead screw versions feature 3mm, 10mm and 25mm leads, and are well suited for smooth motion and load holding in vertical applications without the use of a separate power-off brake.  Belt-drive models allow twice the slide length compared with ballscrew and lead screw versions, and offer three standard Micron NemaTrue 23 gearbox ratios (3:1, 5:1 and 10:1) for torque multiplication and inertia matching ideal for maximized machine performance in high-speed applications.

Thomson MS46 positioning slides come standard with the innovative Thomson Piloted RediMount System.  The system provides simple, quick and inexpensive mounting to virtually any Danaher Motion or third-party motor.  It eliminates the need for a custom motor adapter and includes the necessary motor flange and bellows coupling.  More information and flash animation on the Thomson Piloted RediMount system is available at: http://www.danahermotion-marketing.com/app/uploads/SiteCorp/3/Public/Library/training/RedimountKW6_28.html

Thomson MS46 slides come standard with Thomson’s RoundRail high performance linear bearing system for smooth, precise linear motion.  The U-shaped base design and dual rail design provides for maximum rigidity.  Four segmented super ball bushings provide a smooth, anti-friction slide assembly with superior normal and moment load capacity.  A number of performance enhancing options are available including end-of-travel limit sensors for maximum reliability and system life, shroud covers to protect both the internals of the MS46 as well as to protect workers from moving parts, and shaft-mounted power-off brakes to provide an extra layer of safety on ball screw and belt drive models.
