norelem expands lineup with electric cylinders and actuators

★ By Puja Mitra Leave a Comment

norelem has expanded its portfolio to include electric cylinders and precision IO-Link servo actuators as an alternative to pneumatic cylinders. These components are intended for applications in mechanical engineering and medical technology that require precise linear motion.

The electric cylinders from norelem combine a brushless servo motor, a servo controller and a recirculating ball spindle in a single housing. The IO-Link interface allows setpoint values to be transmitted in real time and enables adjustable speeds, accelerations and positions, including for more complex positioning tasks. The units can also be controlled through basic digital signals similar to those used for pneumatic cylinders.

Powerful and modern drive solution

The devices fit into the existing switch box without requiring extra space. Speed and force limits can be adjusted using the twist knob on the housing. The electric cylinders follow ISO 15552 dimensions and are compatible with standard connection and accessory components.

Two sizes for different requirements

The electric actuators are available in two sizes and with the following characteristics:

  • Size 60
    • Spindle pitch: 5 or 10 mm
    • Stroke: 100 / 150 / 200 / 300 mm
    • Speed: up to 600 mm/s
    • Force: up to 800 N
    • Operation: 24-48 V
    • Lifetime: up to 10,000 km or 20,000 working hours
  • Size 80
    • Spindle pitch: 5 mm
    • Stroke: 100 / 200 / 300 mm
    • Speed: up to 300 mm/s
    • Force: up to 1500 N
    • Operation: 24-48 V
    • Lifetime: up to 10,000 km or 20,000 working hours

The benefits of norelem electric cylinders

Electric cylinders, including IO-Link servo actuators, provide more precise positioning, controlled motion and additional diagnostic options compared with pneumatic cylinders. Servo actuators can move to a wide range of positions and follow defined motion profiles at variable speeds. IO-Link enables users to parameterize, monitor and diagnose these movements directly.

Because of their compact size, the actuators can be installed with only a power connection and an IO-Link cable. They include fewer wear components, which can reduce maintenance needs. They also operate in a controlled, energy-efficient manner and hold position without additional power when stationary.
