OES launches dual-axis goniometer and rotary stage series

★ By Puja Mitra Leave a Comment

Optimal Engineering Systems (OES) has introduced the AK110-10-60V Series of dual-axis goniometer and rotary stages. These motorized stages can be used to measure angles, identify crystals, position an object for inspection and aim a camera or laser. The lower goniometer stage provides ±10 degrees of rotation, and the upper vertical rotary stage includes a 60 mm table with 360 degrees of continuous clockwise and counterclockwise rotation.

With a 10 steps-per-step micro-stepping motor driver, the AK110-10-60V dual-axis stage has 0.0007-degree resolution for the lower goniometer stage, repeatability of +/- 0.01 degrees and accuracy of 0.05 degrees. The rotary stage has 0.002-degree resolution, repeatability of +/- 0.01 degrees and accuracy of 0.05 degrees.

Applications include examining cutting edges of medical instruments, measuring LED radiation patterns, estimating hyperspectral bidirectional reflectance and gloss, directing lasers, aligning mirrors and manufacturing quartz oscillator plates using quartz cutting X-rays.

The AK110-10-60V goniometer-rotary vertical stage series has four motor options. The -01 option (pictured) uses stepper motors with knobs for manual adjustment. The -02 option uses three-phase brushless DC servo motors with quadrature optical encoders and the -03 option uses brushed DC servo motors with quadrature optical encoders. The -04 option uses stepper motors with quadrature optical encoders for position verification. The servo motor options support higher precision and higher speeds.

The goniometer stage includes end-of-travel limit switches. The rotary stage includes a HOME switch for initial power-up. The stages require a motion controller, which can be ordered as a plug-and-play package with a multi-axis controller, joystick and keypad.
