PBC Linear of Pacific Bearing Co. is a linear-motion and bearings manufacturer in Roscoe, Illinois, perhaps best known for its self-lubricating bearings. At the recent CIIF Show in Shanghai, China, PBC Linear and Moons’ Industries — the fourth largest stepper motor manufacturer in the world — announced a joint venture to make integrated mechatronic designs for linear-motion applications.
The two manufacturers hope to leverage complementary expertise in designing and making precision linear rails, bearing types, and drives … as well as experience in producing stepper and smart stepper motors, control solutions, and parts for network connectivity. That will give the industry a new option for integrated linear actuators.
But to find out how the joint venture between PBC Linear and Moons’ Industries will affect design engineers, I chatted with John Good of PBC Linear about the venture.
Listen to the brief interview here:
So in fact, the partnership’s main purpose is to form a global, simplified approach to integrated mechatronics for single-axis robot modules and multi-axis systems.
The combination of technical disciplines should also consolidate the number of vendors that engineers need to use for sourcing linear actuators and other mechatronic designs.
