Bosch Bosch Rexroth will showcase an Open Mechatronics demonstration at this year’s ATX West trade show. The demonstration utilizes Rexroth’s Open Core Engineering solution on an L25 controller in conjunction with an Excel spreadsheet to program the motion.
The motion design demonstrates the position of a two-axis Cartesian system with a CKR X axis, an EMC Gen2 and IMS Ball Rail for the Z axis. During the demo, a size 65 runner block is attached to the end of the Z axis. The program showcases its precision by lifting the weight of the larger runner block on and off of a Size 65 Ball Rail. By incorporating Open Core Engineering, the previously separate worlds of PLC and IT automation are seamlessly merged. It utilizes open, internationally recognized standards with the latest technologies for programming, communication and interfaces.
Electrical and mechanical, PLC and IT, strength and precision … the open mechatronics demo merges worlds in a way that supports better factory automation, electronics and semiconductor production, medical and pharmaceuticals.Engineers can streamline #HMI programming + #MotionControl through @BoschRexrothUS Open Core Interface Click To Tweet
Open-core mechatronics for easier setup and use
Multi-axis motion control and programming has never been easier thanks to Open Core Engineering. It provides access to the core of motion-logic drive and control platforms to enable programmers using standard IT languages like MATLAB, LabVIEW and even Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) to create automation functions and applications.
Software engineers can also significantly streamline HMI programming through Rexroth’s Open Core Interface. Taking advantage of predefined software functions, a machine builder can create a customized, easy-to-understand interface, such as a mobile app or HMI screen, even an Excel spreadsheet—allowing users to perform machine functions and collect data from virtually anywhere.
