Sub-micron Z-axis positioning stages feature four motor options

★ By Miles Budimir Leave a Comment

OES (Optimal Engineering Systems, Inc.) has added vertical stages to their extensive line of high-accuracy, high-resolution lift stages. The Z110 Series of Z-axis Stages are available in travel strokes of 15 mm (0.590 in.), 30 mm (1.181 in.), 50 mm (1.969 in.), and 75 mm (2.953 in). These black anodized aluminum alloy stages feature preloaded crossed roller bearings and 1 mm per motor turn lead screws. Typical positional accuracy of a stepper motor driven stage is 10 microns. The resolution is 0.5 microns when driven with a 10 steps-per-step micro-stepping driver. Resolutions up to 0.039 microns may be achieved with higher resolution micro-stepper motor drivers.  The Z110-15 stage has a 65 x 65 mm (2.559 x 2.559 in.) table, the Z110-30 features a 90 x 90 mm (2.543 x 2.543 in.), the Z110-50 a 90 x 110 mm (2.543 x 4.331 in.) table, and the Z110-75 has a 135 x 110 mm (5.315 x 4.331 in.) table.

stages

This series of Z-axis stages feature four motor options (-01, -02, -03, -04). The Z110-Series-01 Stages are driven by two-phase stepper motors with microstepping capabilities. The Z110-Series-04 Stages are driven with two-phase stepper motors and have quadrature incremental optical encoders, in place of the knobs, for position verification. The Z110-Series-02 Stages are driven by three-phase brushless servo motors with quadrature incremental optical encoders, and the Z110- Series-03 are driven by dc brushed servo motors with quadrature incremental optical encoders. The servo motor options provide higher repeatability and positional accuracy typical of a closed-loop system, and higher travel speeds. Larger travel strokes to 1000 mm (39.370 in.) are also available.

The stages are equipped with limit switches to signal the motion controller that end of travel is reached. They have a pattern of precision mounting holes for mounting tooling, fixtures, optics, cameras, lasers, wafer handling and are the ideal choices for: Laser drilling, and machining, positioning measurements, tracking, inspection, and positioning, in a laboratory and production. Each of these stages can be ordered with a fully compatible plug-and-play, single or multi-axis motion controller, keypad, joystick or trackball and cables from OES.  Contact OES for longer travel strokes.
