THK – Low-Waving, High Rigidity Types SPR and SPS Caged Ball LM Guides

September 10, 2012 By Stacy Combest Leave a Comment

THK’s Type SPR and Type SPS LM Guides with Caged Technology are designed for low-waving and rigid performance.

Featuring eight rows of raceways, small diameter balls and super long blocks, the rigidity of these types surpasses conventional LM Guides. In addition, the waving performance of each of these types is approximately 1/10th the waving value of conventional LM Guides, or comparable to that of hydrostatic guides. Ball deformation is minimized, resulting in rigidity that exceeds even roller guides. The use of an increased number of balls in both types reduces the amplitude of the rolling element.

The rigid and low-waving performance of the Type SPR and the Type SPS contribute to higher accuracy of equipment. The use of THK Caged Technology further adds to the advanced operation of these LM Guides.

THK Caged Technology employs a synthetic resin cage with a patented curvature that cradles each ball and separates it from the next one. The spaces between the rolling elements retain grease and act as a lubrication system. The incorporation of THK Caged Technology in these LM Guides eliminates the need for frequent lubrication and results in long-term maintenance-free performance.

The Type SPR and the Type SPS are available in 5 model with LM rails widths ranging from 30 to 60mm.
