Tolomatic (www.tolomatic.com) has unveiled its most powerful and largest integrated-motor rod-style actuator, the IMA55 actuator. With a standard ball screw, this new actuator delivers up to 3,000 pounds of force and effectively enhances dynamic performance while offering longer service life than traditional rod-style actuators. It comes with a unique integrated motor design that is suitable for applications such as clamping, pressing, valve control, volumetric filling and spot welding.
“With the addition of the IMA55 actuator to Tolomatic’s integrated-motor actuator line, we now have compact actuators for high-duty-cycle industrial applications that range in force from several hundred to 3,000 pounds,” said Aaron Dietrich, Marketing Manager at Tolomatic.
“The IMA55 actuator, with its integrated servomotor, is also shorter for a given stroke length than other types of rod-style actuators.”
The rod-style actuator’s hollow core rotor design enables the screw’s nut to pass through the rotor to create a compact package.
Dietrich added that “the skewed stator windings minimize the cogging of the motor and provide more efficient motion with improved force repeatability.”
Moving at a top speed of around 12 inches per second, the IMA55 actuator is offered with a selection of motor windings optimized for 460 or 230 VAC in incremental stroke lengths ranging between six inches and 18 inches. It features Tolomatic’s Endurance Technology and a patent-pending lead-screw lubrication system that permits easy relubrication even without disassembly.
