5.5 (Bonus!) 2016 trends in linear motion design
Technology improvements continued in linear motion design, with packaging and medical leading the charge this year. In fact, the biggest trend was more reliance on flexible machine designs, which require that machine axes constructed for one purpose easily reprogram for others. “Each industry has different individual needs, but the common thread is more machines to deliver flexible performance,” said Dave Hein, VP of engineering at Nexen.
Other trends this year included the development of Industry 4.0 components, miniaturization, and more integrated systems. Which of these will carry into 2017 and beyond, and which will fizzle out? Keep an eye on this site to find out.
