Applimotion (www.applimotion.com) has introduced its custom micro-linear motors kits intended for specialty low profile applications. In multi-phase or single phase configurations, these units can act as limited linear motors or travel actuators. Due to increasing customer demand and new applications in imaging and scanning systems, the company has broadened its linear motor portfolio to include this technology.
The air-core linear motors work with traditional servo drives and provide true- sinusoidal torque curves. It seamlessly fits with sinusoidal motor controller electronics to deliver controllable consistent force. Optional magnet track lengths are also available.
Two initial models are offered featuring profiles less than 0.5 inch total height (track and coil). The models operate on 24 volts at up to 5 meter/sec and cover a constant force of 5 N/amp.
These motors also feature low magnetic core losses. In general, slotless motors are optimum for high speed operation of more than 10krpm. The motors’ frameless nature enables them to integrate easily into high speed spindles where they operate with very low heating.
Applimotion, Inc. is situated in Loomis, CA. Its goal is to produce affordable unique motor components and brushless motors. With expertise in motion engineering and motor design, the company’s engineers develop application specific motors for OEM customers. The company has a ready solution for low volume driven motors manufactured at its CA facility, or a high volume performance driven application produced off shore.
