Direct drive high force linear actuator features 5-micron resolution, zero cogging

September 28, 2020 By Paul Heney Leave a Comment

A new 5-micron resolution linear actuator, also known as an electric cylinder, has been released by Moticont.  This high resolution, high speed, zero cogging, zero backlash linear actuator also features 7.6 lbs (33.9 N) of continuous force and 24.1 lbs (107.2  N) peak force.  Providing users with high acceleration, and long life, this compact actuator is 2.00 in. (50.8 mm) in diameter and 3.75 in (95.3 mm) long with a 1.000 in. (25.4 mm) stroke.  The SDLM-051-095-01-05 Linear Actuator integrates a 5 micron linear optical quadrature encoder with differential outputs for increased noise immunity that is enclosed in the housing for protection and is directly connected to the shaft for the greatest possible accuracy.

The SDLM-051-095-01-05 Linear Actuator has quiet long life plain linear bearings, a non-rotating 0.250 in. (6.2 mm) diameter shaft with a 6-32 UNC-2B x 0.40 (10.mm) deep internal thread at each end, and two 10-32 UNF 2B x 0.40 (10mm) deep mounting holes on 1.000 in (254 mm) centers in the actuator’s end plates to permit easy installation into new and existing applications.

The Linear Actuators such as the SDLM-051-095-01-05 Linear Actuator are used in: Semiconductor and wafer handling, sampling, testing, clamping, sorting, manufacturing, inspection, medical procedure tables, antenna positioning, dampers, door & valve actuators, and agricultural equipment.

If a longer stroke, higher resolution, or higher force linear motor is need for an application, please contact the company.
