New video demonstrates how to synchronize multiple lifting columns

April 24, 2015 By Danielle Collins Leave a Comment

Thomson Industries, Inc., a leading manufacturer of mechanical motion control solutions, has released a new video to demonstrate how design engineers can synchronize multiple Thomson Lifting Columns quickly and easily. The compact design of Thomson Lifting Columns provides a favorable ratio between stroke and retracted length to improve operator ergonomics. Models are designed to handle moment loads up to 400 Nm and speeds up to 19 mm/s to improve device functionality with higher loads and loads that are offset, while still providing throughput requirements.

Kyle Thompson, Global Product Line Manager, Systems at Thomson, explains in the video, “Once the columns are installed and retracted, to synchronize you only need an encoder equipped to each column and a Thomson control. The end-user simply needs to press the Thomson control button for five seconds until they hear a ‘click’ noise to confirm that the columns have been synchronized. This allows the columns to move together in unison.

Kyle uses the Thomson Lifting Column product family with three different models that are all made of self-supporting anodized aluminum profiles which are aesthetically pleasing, with no need for shroud or cover. The range is easy to install with pre-drilled mounting holes and maintenance free, including an IP44 protection rating. Thomson Lifting Columns are ideal for applications such as medical table beds and as an ergonomic automation solution to increase operator comfort and productivity.
