Linear voice coil servo motor with 0.875 in. diameter features high force-to-size ratio

Moticont has released the GVCM-022-013-01 linear voice coil servo motor. This compact 0.875 in. (22.2 mm) diameter high speed, high force-to-size linear motor features high accuracy and high repeatability when operated in a closed loop as a dc servo motor. This brushless servo motor is clean, quiet and has long life, low mass and high acceleration/deceleration for high throughput. The linear voice coil motor, also known as a moving coil motor or actuator, is suitable for a range of applications including haptic feedback, medical devices, wafer handling, optical focusing, dynamic vibration absorption, work holding and clamping, assembly, testing, positioning, scanners, laser beam steering, laser speckle correction and filtering.

The 0.094 in. (2.4 mm) diameter shaft has a 2-56 UNC-2A thread and exerts 14.5 oz (4.0 N) of continuous force and 45.7 oz (12.7 N) peak force with a 0.25 in. (6.4 mm) stroke. The housing length is 0.500 in. (12.7 mm) long, the shaft extension is 0.54 in. (13.5 mm) for a total length (including shaft) of 1.22 in. (31 mm). For easy integration into new and existing applications, the housing and coil ends have two 4-40 UNC-2B threaded holes on a 0.375 in. (9.5 mm) bolt circle.

Metric series threads are available in production quantities. A complete line of quadrature linear encoders and plug-and-play servo systems including controller, joystick, and keypad are also available.

If there is a need for a smaller or larger diameter motor, one with longer travel, or more force, designers can select from Moticont’s extensive series of GVCM Servo Motors based on diameter of the motor, length of stroke, and/or force.
